CLASS 101 - DOMESTIC SCIENCE

NO mixes, convenience products, or canned fillings to be used in this section. PLACE FOOD ON PAPER OR PLASTIC PLATES IN CLEAR PLASTIC BAGS. SECURE ENTRY TAGS TO THE TWIST USED TO CLOSE THE BAG. Where there are a large number of entries in a section, entries will be judged first, on general appearance. Those meeting requirements are then judged for internal appearance and flavour.
PRIZE MONEY - 1st - $2.00; 2nd - $1.50; 3rd - $1.00; 4th - 50¢
KINDERGARTEN, GRADES 1 & 2
19. A rice crispy & marshmallow insect - no larger that 6” long & 3” high 20. A popcorn cow - no larger than 9” high and 9” long 21. Best decorated pancake (judged on decoration only) 22. Graham cracker log cabin (held together with icing)
GRADES 3, 4, 5
23. Chocolate chip cookies - three (3) - maximum 3”diameter 24. Homemade trail mix (in a plastic sandwich bag) 25. Log cabin of 100 years ago - made from gingerbread (held together with icing) 26. Peanut brittle - two (2) pieces
GRADES 6, 7, 8
27. A cookie gram (12” round cookie decorated with a message) 28. Fudge - three (3) pieces - using this recipe:
1 ¾ cups icing sugar Pinch of salt ¼ cup cocoa 1 ¼ teaspoon vanilla 2 tablespoons milk ¼ cup butter (cut into squares)
In a microwavable bowl, stir sugar, cocoa, salt, milk and vanilla until blended. Put cut up pieces of butter on top. Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Stir vigorously until smooth. Pour into wax-paper lined loaf pan. Chill one (1) hour before cutting.
