AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION 

P/I INTERMEDIATE - HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

1.    Colour prints - any size up to 8”x10”.
2.    All photographs must be mounted with a minimum border of 1” and Ready to Hang. Framed photographs will NOT be accepted.
3.    The competitor’s name, address and telephone # must be clearly printed on the back of bristol board.
4.    All colour photographs must have been taken within the last two years by the competitor whereas black & white photos have no year requirement.
5.    “Amateur” means competitor cannot make more than 5% on photograph-related income to be able to enter.                                                                                                                                                                                          6. The judges will be chosen from the community and will have great knowledge and artistic ability in the realm of photography .
7. Competitors are allowed to enter ONE photo only, in each category.
8. Be sure you mark your entry ticket with the class and the category.

The criteria of judging is as follows -

(1)    Technical Quality - Exposure, focusing, depth of field (ie: sharpness)
(2)    Subject matter - What appeals to you. Fill the viewfinder
(3)    Composition Arrangement - use of elements, line shape, colour, form ie: don’t put subject right in the middle of the shot
(4)    Impact or emotional appeal

Prize money : 1st $8.00, 2nd $5.00, 3rd $3.00

There will a BEST IN SHOW

A    Photographer’s Choice: your favourite picture (remember the criteria)
B    Portraits: can be formal, posed or statues, animals
C    Sporting Events: such as rodeo, skiing, motorcross
D    Nature: this means the hand of man cannot be seen in the print. Can be scenic, rural settings, birds,   butterflies, wildflowers, seascape or animals (not domesticated)
E    Black & White - any subject                                                                                                                                          F    Abstract - to change the appearance of your chosen subject so the result has no resemblance of the original subject
G    **NEW** Picture of COLDWATER MAIN STREET

WINNERS WHO HAVE ‘POST-IT’ NOTES ON THEIR PHOTOGRAPHY ARE ASKED TO VISIT THE SECRETARY’S OFFICE BETWEEN 4:00 & 5:00 P.M. ON SUNDAY TO RECEIVE OTHER GIFTS. PROOF OF IDENTITY IS REQUIRED.
