CLASS 33 - GEORGIAN BAY REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP HORSE PULL

THERE WILL BE A BUY BACK ON ROSETTES: large - $1.50; small - 50¢ available on the days of the Fair only. Please see the director in charge of your division.

HORSE PULLING RULES - 27''6" DISTANCE PULL BUCKEYE SLED
1. Two full pulls must be completed to qualify for prize money. Current Coggins and insurance papers must be presented. To help offset drug testing costs, theere will be a $10.00 fee per team to pull
2. There shall be no alcoholic beverages used by teamsters, helpers or officials
3. All teams must be weighed the day of the pull with halter and loose shank. Only weigh once per weekend
4. Middle Class - 3600 lbs. & under. Heavy Class - 3601 lbs. & over. Scales will open 1 1/2 hours before pull begins and close 30 minutes before pull. BOTH CLASSES PULL TOGETHER
5. LENGTH OF DRAW IS 27 FEET 6 INCHES. LONGEST DRAW COUNTS, 2 ATTEMPTS. A total of 2 1/2 minutes will be allowed to complete each draw. BUCKEYE PULLING SLED to be used when possible. Pulling sled to be drawn in both directions for two rounds and then only one direction for remainder of pull. On the second hitch, teamsters have the option of taking immediately following the first hitch, where the boat is sitting. If he/she passes and takes the second hitch at the end of the round then the boat can be spotted anywhere on the track as long as there is sufficient side lines left. The pulling sled to be centred between the two side lines. To be eligible for a second hitch, reasonable attempt must make on first hitch. Side lines must be 18 feet apart
6. A teamster is allowed two helpers, teamsters and helpers must remain behind the double tree while the horses are pulling. After completing the first pull, no change in teamster will be allowed, except in the case of injury
7. A break in harness: the teamster will decide if he keeps the distance or will start over
8. A run-away team or team out of control will automatically be eliminated and drug tested at teamster's expense or be deemed a positive test
9. A pull will be disqualified:
(A) if horses step on or over lines or makers
(B) if horses are beaten, lines are swung, foul language
(C) if helpers interfere in any way after horses aare hitched
(D) if teamsters or helpers head the horses while pulling or hitching
(E) if teamsters or helpers slap, push or touch the horses with hand lines or whiffletrees while in the
ring. NO CHECK SLAPS WILL BE ALLOWED.
10. Three circles passing in front of the boat or anything over a twelve inch chuck will be classified as one pull
11. Any teamster or helper will automatically be ejected from the contest with all winnings forfeited if he argues with the jude, fairboard, pulling committee or other contestants
12. NO CHANGING OF BRIDLES DURING THE PULL
13. DRUG TESTING TO BE ENFORCED:
(A) No Drugs allowed
(B) Any harassment or non-compliance with veterinarian will be deemed a positive test. This to be
at the discretion of the veterinarian and horse pul officials/committee
(C) No team or teamster allowed to pull while under suspension with any other organization
(D) Forfeit prize money and placing
(E) Additional penalty as fair board concerned feel appropriate
PRIZES - Same money for light and heavy draft 1st $200.00, 2nd $180.00, 3rd $160.00, 4th $140.00, 5th $120.00, 6th $100.00, 7th $75.00, hitch $50.00
