All entries must be in place by 8:30 p.m., Thursday, September 25. All entries in the Cut Flower and Houseplants must be grown by exhibitor. Flower containers are available

Cut Flowers and Houseplants

PRIZE MONEY - 1st $3.00, 2nd $2.00, 3rd $1.50

RULES:
1.     Exhibitors are asked to follow directions as to the number of BLOOMS, COLOURS, etc. Failure to do so can disqualify entry. (Note: A BUD SHOWING COLOUR SHALL COUNT AS A BLOOM). Cedar or saran wrap may be used to keep blooms in place in container but must not show

2.     Exhibitors may make ONE entry ONLY in any one class, unless otherwise stated

3.     Decision of Judge(s) is final

4.     No exhibitor will be awarded a prize unless, in the Judge’s opinion, it possesses sufficient merit, even though it may be the only entry in its class

5.     Judging will be done according to the New Ontario Judging & Exhibiting Standards Publication #34/2003

6.     The Show Committee has authority to add a special class in any show, if there are sufficient entries to warrant after the entry time is closed

7.     All Exhibitors are responsible for proper placement. It is the responsibility of the Exhibitor to have entries properly tagged and placed in the correct classes. Failure to do so may result in disqualification of entry

8.     Please remember to groom your plants and be free of insects before bringing them to the show

9.     ONLY the Flower Show Committee is allowed to be in the area during judging.

10.   AWARDS MAY ONLY BE WON 2 YEARS IN A ROW

Cut Flowers From Your Garden

1.     A collection of summer/fall flowers, not to exceed 12 stems displayed in a container and suitably arranged. (Lorraine Piggott Memorial Award)

2.    A collection of Asters displayed in a container and suitably arranged not to exceed 8 stems

3.    Begonia - Tuberous, 1 floating with own foliage. (Ann Gill Memorial Award)

4.    Cleome (Spider Plant) - seed pods to be removed, 3 stems any colour

5.    Coleus - 2 stems, any variety

6.    Chrysanthemums - 3 stems, Pom Pon

7.    Chrysanthemums - 3 stems, decorative and/or cushion variety

8.    A collection of Chrysanthemums - Displayed in a container suitably arranged. Not to exceed 6 stems

9.    Daisies - collection of any daisy type flower not to exceed 6 stems

10.  Dahlia - over 6”, 1 bloom, floating, without foliage

11.  Dahlia - 3” - 6”, 2 blooms, foliage attached

12.  Dahlia - 1” - 3”, 3 blooms, foliage attached

13.  A collection of Dahlias - displayed in a container and suitably arranged not to exceed 6 stems

14.  Geranium - 3 heads, one colour with own foliage

15.  Geranium - 3 heads, mixed colours with own foliage

16.  Cosmos - 3 to 5 stems with foliage attached

17.  Sunflower - 3 blooms

Gladioli - a 20” limit on length of stem below bottom floret

In the categories 18, 19, 20, there is no entry limit if different colours

20.  Gladiolus - 1 spike, orange or salmon

21.  Gladiolus - 1 spike, bi-colour

26.  Marigolds - large, 3 blooms, over 3”

27.  Marigolds - medium, 3 blooms, 2”-3”

28.  Marigolds - 3 blooms, under 2”, one colour

29.  Marigolds - 3 blooms, under 2”, bi-coloured

HOUSEPLANTS

Plants must be owned by exhibitor for three months prior to show. One Entry per exhibitor in each class. Pots and saucers must be cleaned and plants must be groomed. PLEASE NAME PLANTS IF POSSIBLE

59.   Begonia - Fancy leaf

60.   Begonia - any other flowering variety

61.   Coleus - 1 variety, must be grown in pot

62.   Cactus - Pot not to exceed 4”

63.   Cactus - Pot over 4”

64.   Succulent - Pot not to exceed 4”

66.   Cactus &/or Succulent Garden - Pot or tray containing a variety of cactus and/or succulents. Not to exceed 15” in diameter

69.   Geranium - 1 variety, must be in bloom

ARTISTIC DESIGN

RULES:

All Artistic Designs must be complete when brought to show. ONCE THE DESIGNS ARE ON THE TABLE, NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO MOVE THEM.
Entry tags should not be attached to arrangement - therefore place tags on table

All flowers in design must be garden grown (yours, friends, neighbours) not store purchased unless stated.
All designs to be your interpretation, unless otherwise stated. Accessories permitted.

89.   SEW IT UP - design depicting a craft (knitting, sewing, etc)  

90.   SQUIRRELS HARVEST - design

91.   OPEN ROAD - wayside design of wild flowers and roadside material. No to exceed 18" in diameter
